About Peter Quinain
Peter Quinain is descended from the founder of a timber and sawmill business which was started in 1866. Peter himself was originally involved in clearing and planting managed plantations, progressing to felling mature hardwood and specimen trees.
Then in 1983 Peter set up a business buying mature hardwood trees or saw logs and milling them for solid oak beams and lintels for sale to the building trade and those refurbishing older properties.
Today, our team use their combined expertise and knowledge of timber and its properties to provide help and advice to our clients including architects, builders and specialist developers; from "taking off" drawings for structural timbers to laying wooden flooring where there are moisture or under floor heating issues.
Our sawmill can offer sawn beams and joists for a more traditional finish, stress graded timbers, crucks, trusses and air dried material for construction purposes.
We also have a large machine shop from which we can offer a wide range of bespoke solid wooden flooring to meet your particular specification, available tongued and grooved or straight-edged in several species and grades of timber. Our skilled craftsmen make items such as ledged and braced interior doors, worktops and window boards, skirting and architraves for bespoke building projects. Alternatively, we can supply the sawn board prepared to meet your requirements.
Over the years we have invested in developing our site, machinery and people so that we now have the capability to provide a wide range of timber related products and services. However, we are more than a traditional timber merchant. In addition to our range of hardwood products, we have used our "know-how" to research and select a range of products to ensure we can help you, not only with renovation projects but also with any new property developments you may be working on. For example, we are now able to offer you an exciting range of internal veneered doors including factory finished doorsets from Proma, a leading European manufacturer.
